cocktail_root_beer_old_fashioned

root beer

Boo-Boo Water (a Root Beer Old Fashioned)

  • 1 1/2oz overproof rye (Wild Turkey 101)
  • 1/2oz Cocchi Americano
  • 1/2oz Fernet Branca
  • 1/2oz PSW Root Beer Syrup
  • 4 heavy dashes Fees Bros. Black Walnut Bitters

The R.B. Kazenzakis (Non-Alcoholic Root Beer Float)

  • 1 egg white
  • 1oz heavy cream
  • 1/2oz orange juice
  • 1oz PSW Root Beer Syrup
  • 5-6 mint leaves (torn)

Add all ingredients to shaker and dry shake. Add ice, then shake/strain into coupe or small rocks glass. Add 3oz seltzer slowly, as it will begin to swell and foam. Garnish with grated nutmeg and mint tip. Recipe courtesy of Graham Gregg, Expatriate, Portland, Oregon.

THE ACADIAN

  • 2 oz light rum
  • Juice of 1/4 lime
  • 1 oz syrup

Pour over rocks. Top with
sparkling water to taste.

SAM ELLIOT ALEXANDER

  • 2 oz aged rum
  • 1/2 oz cream
  • 1/2 oz syrup
  • 1 egg white

Shake well and strain.

AALTO LOUNGE CRUSH

  • 3/4oz Fernet Branca
  • 3/4oz Vanilla Stoli
  • 3/4oz syrup

Serve over ice and top with half & half.

BESAW’S ROOT BEER OLD FASHIONED

  • 2oz Temperance Trader Bourbon
  • 2 dashes Fees Whiskey Barrel-aged Bitters
  • 2 barspoons syrup
  • orange peel to garnish

Combine all ingredients over large ice cube. Stir for 8-10 seconds. Garnish.

ginger; hot ginger-basil

PORTLAND MULE

  • 2 oz vodka
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1 oz syrup

Pour over rocks. Top with sparkling water to taste.

SUPER SIMPLE SNOW CURE

  • 1.5 oz ginger or hot ginger-basil syrup
  • .5 oz lemon juice
  • 2 oz bourbon

Topped with hot water in your favorite mug and sipped by a fireplace

vanilla-spice rooibos

NIGHT COLA

  • 2 oz whiskey
  • Juice of 1/4 lime
  • 1 oz syrup

Pour over rocks. Top with
sparkling water to taste.

CHAI-LITE

  • Try adding an ounce of the Vanilla-spice rooibos to your morning (or afternoon) coffee for a chai-like experience.  We call it Chai-lite and it is delicious

hibiscus-cardamom

Slouching Towards Bethlehem

  • 1 1/2oz Bols Genever
  • 1/2oz Dolin Genepy
  • 1/2oz Portland Soda Works Hibiscus-
    Cardamom Syrup
  • 1/2oz Orange Juice
  • 1/2oz Lemon Juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

THE TURK

  • 2 oz gin
  • Juice of 1/4 lime
  • 1 oz syrup

Pour over rocks. Top with sparkling water to taste.  Also good if vodka is substituted for gin.

Prosecca

  • 4 oz chilled Prosecco
  • 1 tsp syrup, to taste

Pour syrup into flute. Fill with Prosecco.

Water Avenue Coffee

VELVETODDY

  • 1 oz syrup
  • 12 oz can sparkling water
  • Splash half-and-half

Pour over rocks in this order.

Krakatoa Cocktail

  • 1 1/2oz Vida mezcal
  • 1/2oz Rothman & Winter Apricot
  • 3/4oz Orgeat
  • 3/4oz Pineapple juice
  • 1/2oz Lime juice
  • Heavy 1/2oz Portland Soda Works Coffee Syrup

Malá Strana (an inverted Sazerac)

  • 2oz Becherovka
  • 1/2oz Bols Genever
  • Heavy 1/4oz Portland Soda Works Coffee Syrup
  • 1/4oz strawberry syrup
  • 15 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • Absinthe rinse

Stir, garnish with lemon twist. Serve neat. Rinse protip: Fill rocks glass with ice and water while stirring the cocktail. Dump, then spray atomized absinthe into glass 4x — this will allow the absinthe to cling better to the surface of the glass, as well as aiding in dilution.

The Francis Bebey

  • 1 tbsp syrup
  • 2 oz sparkling water
  • 2 oz light rum
  • 2 oz good cola
